Family of man killed at doorstep wants answers

Posted

One year later a Boynton Beach family is still searching for answers.

Last May, Edward Morton was shot and killed right on his doorstep after answering a knock at the door.

At a press conference Thursday, his grieving mother Dishune Moore showed mercy - and made a plea for justice.

"I forgive you," she says. "Just give me some closure!"

Since last May, Answers have been hard to come by in the death of the 27 year old.

"Please please somebody out there...have a heart," Morton says. "If you've never had one before, have one now."

Police say Morton likely knew the killer who showed up at his door that night.

"Edward's brother answered the door, the shooter asked for Edward, the brother got Edward, as Edward came to the door he was shot in the face and killed," says Detective William Muhleisen with Boynton Beach PD.

Exactly a year later, the question still baffling family and investigators - why?

"This was a calculated, brazen killing," Detective Muhleisen says. "This person had this planned, took their time, and waited at the door."

Boynton Beach Police wouldn't elaborate, but say they've received a few leads from the public in the past year, and were able to release a sketch of a possible suspect.

Still, there have been no arrests in the case, leaving his family heartbroken and afraid.

"It pretty has changed the dynamic of my parent's home," says Edward's sister Eva Wright. "[Someone knocks] on the door, your heart drops."

Moore says it's been tense.

"I don't like living in fear...and I know you wouldn't either!"

Edward's loved ones hoping someone - anyone - will step forward with info.

If you have a tip for investigators, you're urged to contact police.

They emphasize that you can remain anonymous.
