A Boynton Beach man took the crime watch warning outside his home to a whole new level.

He told police he was out of town when his home alarm went off. He was able to watch a live feed of his surveillance camera and saw a man inside his home. He called Boynton Beach police right away.

Officers noted when they arrived, the suspect Wanchel Souffrant, was holding a television. They placed the 23-year-old man under arrest for burglary.

“Home surveillance systems are a great resource for people and it certainly does make our jobs easier when we’re responding to a call and you can tell us what you see,” explained Stephanie Slater, a Boynton Beach police spokesperson.

In April 2009, police arrested several men under similar circumstances. A Boynton Beach woman at work in Fort Lauderdale checked her home surveillance camera and saw several men inside. She called police who surrounded the home and caught the men.
