An 18-year-old Boynton Beach High School student is in custody after a bank robbery this weekend.

The incident occurred at a Wells Fargo located at 1550 West Boynton Beach Blvd. around 9 a.m. Saturday.

Officers said the suspect, Austin Puppo, told the teller he had a bomb in his backpack, then fled with an unknown amount of cash.

Puppo was booked Sunday night into the Palm Beach County Jail. He faces armed robbery charges and making a false bomb threat.

At a court appearance Monday morning, a judge set bail at $40,000 and said he can return to school if he meets certain conditions.

His family declined comment after the hearing.
