Boca Raton police said a tipster who saw a tweet helped them arrest an armed robbery suspect.
Thursday morning Gary Rojas, 18, was in court facing charges of kidnapping, robbery with a weapon and sexual assault.
Police said Rojas contacted a woman, looking to rent out a room. When he went to check it out, police said Rojas pulled out a gun and forced her to hand over money.
In this specific case, Rojas drove the victim to a bank and withdrew $700. Police say that while Rojas was in the vehicle, he told the victim he wanted to rent a room at a hotel and have her lure men so he could rob them.
Surveillance video from the TD Bank on West Palmetto Park Rd helped identify Rojas. Someone who recognized him called police.
Rojas is being held without bond.
