The Palm Beach County School District said officials are checking out a threat made to some Boca Raton High School students.

It said the threat was made Tuesday night on social media.

The school issued the following message to reassure parents and guardians:

Good morning Boca Raton High parents, this is Dr. King with an important message. We’ve received calls from concerned parents regarding a message shared on Instagram with an implied threat of violence to our school. School Police is actively investigating and we have additional security on campus today. Anyone with information about the posting is urged to contact School Police at (561) 434-8700 or make an anonymous tip to student Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS (8477).

Story updated to clarify that the threat was to some students not to the school as a whole.
