BOCA RATON, Fla. — Have you had trouble potty training your young child? Maybe you have heard the horror stories, but doctors say every kid is different.

In a warehouse district in Boca Raton, there is a class that nearly 3,000 kids in Palm Beach County have taken. Some parents and their kids have traveled from as far as New York and the Virgin Islands and swear by a unique lesson in Boca Raton.

It is a four-hour boot camp, otherwise known as the Potty Training School.

"It's a true art of metaphysics training," said school owner Melissa Adam.

It's not something many moms will admit to doing with their children.

"The biggest mom shaming is, 'I can't believe these parents are so lazy nowadays that they cant potty train their own child,'" said Adam.

The school is not for the faint of heart.

Adam said friends, even family members, told her she was nuts when she started the program. She didn't even openly admit her idea of creating the potting training class.

"I was one of those moms that hid it, and I would say, 'I can help you with your potty training,'" she said.

Doctors say there is no one size fits all method to potty training.

Dr. Lynda Bideau with Children's Physicians said parents should look for readiness signs, like pulling on a diaper or your child saying they want to be clean. That's when you should invest in a potty chair.

"The best advice is start when the toddler is ready," said Bideau.

When asked why the school worked for her child, one mom said, "Something in the water. I don't know, it's just like a magic cure I have no idea."

Adam also teaches both private and group classes for children on the autism spectrum and children with special needs. You can find information at: https://www.pottytrainingschool.org/.
