Frequent cop calls to complex where student shot

Tuesday night marks one week since an FAU student was killed in Boca Raton.

Boca Raton police say investigators are still looking for four suspects connected to the shooting which happened at University Park.

Police records indicate the person who fired the shot that killed Nick Acosta is still on the loose.

Officers arrested Donovan Henry last week, but documents show someone else in the group had the gun.

It isn't the first time the police have been called to the apartments where Acosta was shot.

They've been there 58 times since August, which is about the time when the apartments opened.

58 may seem like a lot but former Boca Raton Police Chief Andrew Scott says most of the calls are for minor things you'd expect at a complex for college students only.

He says there is no way the past calls would have led police to believe a murder would happen there. “They're making drug paraphernalia arrests and also minor misdemeanor marijuana arrests. That tells me that the police are there, they're engaged and they're actively patrolling.”

A spokesperson from the apartment complex said they're helping police any way they can.

But some residents want to break their leases.
