Boca Raton police spent part of the morning looking for a man wanted on a drug warrant. The search prompted an alert at FAU.
The school sent the warning out of an abundance of caution.
The alert said: "Attention FAU (#2): Police activity at Boca Raton campus, (20th street entrance) at (10:59 A M) on (May 12, 2017). Avoid the area. More to follow."
Boca Raton police later tweeted that the suspect, who had been sleeping in a business and was wanted on a drug warrant, ran from officers.
They later arrested him without incident.
