UPDATE: The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that Lawrence Dunn was arrested on a warrant for indecent exposure and trespassing.
EARLIER STORY:
There is video of a man on social media that has a neighborhood on edge.
The woman who took the video told me she couldn't believe what she was seeing while small children walked to school. It was a man acting in a lewd manner near an elementary school in suburban Boca Raton.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has seen the video and its investigating.
Take our word for it. The picture we aired on TV does not show exactly what this man is doing. And it's the last thing Andrea Hadyar wanted to see.
“He was just there for a long time,” said Hadyar. “When the children would walk by he would stare at them.”
Her mom quickly took cellphone video too graphic for television around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. Kids headed to nearby Hammock Pointe Elementary School were walking by.
“I was just thinking that's disturbing, that's sick,” said Hadyar.
That's when she called 911. “I wanted the cops to come in time,” said Hadyar. “That's what was going through my head the whole time.”
Detectives responded but did not take the man into custody. “They told me they couldn't arrest him because nobody under 18 saw him and that he wasn't trying to lure the kid in, so it wasn't that dangerous.”
Hadyar did not agree with sheriff's detectives. She shared the video with her neighbor Tatiana Bruzzo. “It was disgusting,” said Bruzzo. “I couldn't believe what i was seeing.”
She submitted it to the Facebook page West Boca News, so parents would be on high alert. Since then, there have been hundreds of comments. Hadyar and her neighbor want something done to get the man off the streets.
“I would like to see him get arrested, so it's safer around here,” said Haydar. Bruzzo added, “I would like to see him get arrested for this before it's too late.”
Detectives believe the man in the video is homeless.
It’s up to the State Attorney’s Office to file charges.
