BOCA RATON, Fla. -- If you haven't been to a library in a while, things have changed. Gone are the days of scrolling through microfiche and you can forget searching the card catalog. Now for Boca Raton residents they don't even have step foot in the library to check out a book. It's all thanks to a digital service called Hoopla.
"Hoopla is an online streaming service available with their library card," explained Spanish River Librarian Helen Silver. "It offers e-books, audio books, TV shows, movies and music."
Comics, DVDs, and, of course, books are available anytime, anywhere through Hoopla. The service is free if you're a resident of the City of Boca Raton.
"It's more modern and convenient and it's what patrons are asking for," said Silver.
But if going to the library is more your speed don't worry they're not going anywhere. And neither are librarians.
"We still have a demand for the physical products, this is just expanding our collection," Silver detailed. "That's basically how I see it. This is just an expansion of what is available for everybody. We still offer the physical products books, DVDs and CDs, but now we've this added layer."
