At least two lanes of Interstate 95 northbound were closed Friday morning near Yamato Road in Boca Raton after a chain-reaction crash involving a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.
FHP spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky said the trooper involved in the wreck was parked in the median running radar.
That’s when a Toyota Avalon driven by Abel Castin, 22, of Lantana hit a Dodge Neon driven by Mario A. Carrasco, 54, of Orlando, according to the FHP.
The Dodge then veered to the right shoulder while the Toyota veered left, struck a concrete barrier wall and then struck the trooper in a Chevy Tahoe, according to an FHP report.
The trooper, identified as Tommie Rodriguez, received minor injuries.
Castin was seriously injured while Carrasco was not hurt.
