A man is under arrest after a road-rage incident that began in Boca Raton, ended in Broward County, and resulted in gunfire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 31-year-old driving a pickup truck and 46-year-old Joseph Brown were southbound on I-95 near Palmetto Park Road Thursday morning when they became involved in an argument while driving on the interstate, FHP said.

As they approached State Road 814 in Broward County the pickup driver drove down the exit ramp in an attempt to get away from Brown, then veered back to get on the interstate at the last minute, according to FHP. However, he miscalculated and stopped short of the highway, an FHP report said.

At that point Brown caught up with him and fired three shots into the rear of the pickup, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Two struck the tailgate, and one hit the truck's bumper, according to FHP Lieutanant Alvaro A. Feola.

Brown took off but Broward deputies saw his Toyota 4 door and pulled him over on State Road 811 south of State Road 814, the FHP spokesman said.

Deputies saw a semi-automatic handgun in Brown's vehicle, authorities said.

The alleged victim later identified Brown as the shooter, according to a report from investigators.

Broward County Jail records show Brown faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, missile into a dwelling, vehicle, building or aircraft, and carrying a concealed weapon.
