BOCA RATON, Fla. — It was an emotional Sunday for two families who came together to save a child's life.
Grant Medeiros, 5, met the donor who gave him a crucial supply of bone marrow last year while the boy was battling leukemia.
The meeting took place during the Gift of Life's Steps for Life Run/Walk 5K at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.
“Having at the time an 8-month-old son, there was no question that I wanted to be able to do this and would hope that if someone else was in this position, they would happily do it for our family,” said donor Graeme Ossey.
“It’s one of those things that a total stranger saved my son’s life. It just shows you that there are so many great people out there,” said Philip Medeiros, Grant’s father.
This was all made possible by the nonprofit group “Gift of Life Marrow Registry.”
