Life has changed for Carmen Moreira's family since an earthquake struck April 16th in Ecuador.
Her parents now live with friends. "It was shocking, my sister went with me and my sister started crying, and for me I can't believe what's going on."
Walking through the streets also brought them to tears. Photos they took show the devastation throughout the neighborhood. "The furniture was upside down, the TVs were on the floor everything was on the floor."
Moreira is heartbroken. "Afterwards I started crying because this is the house that we grew in."
People left homeless are living in tents and waiting in long lines for food. "The first thing that I saw on the roads were people begging for water, they had empty containers in their hands just begging for water," Moreira's husband Galo said.
The family brought items from the U.S. to Ecuador to help family members there. But they say it's not enough. "Some of them were lucky to survive, they need clothes, they need food, they need water."
Galo says another trip is planned. "I'm going back, hopefully by the end of June, my family and I we are going back and see how much more we can help."
