NICE, FRANCE -- A Boca Raton woman was in Nice, France on the promenade that was attacked Thursday.
28-year-old Kayla Repan was traveling in France during the time of the deadly attack.
Her mother says she got engaged a few days ago in France and was beginning a 3 week vacation in Europe with her fiancee.
Kayla told her mom that she "heard things, then saw people running." She told the Associated Press, "it was chaos" and that she got "extremely frightened and ran away from the promenade."
Kayla and her fiancee made it back to their hotel.
She told her mom there is a large military presence near the hotel, so she feels safe.
Kayla's mom Anne broke down while speaking to NewsChannel 5 and said she had reservations about Kayla going to France in the first place because of the threat of terrorism.
But she says Kayla told her that "she couldn't live in fear."
Anne went on to say her prayers go out to the victims and their families. She said it could have easily been her daughter who was hurt.
