New York City police have added concrete barriers along the Thanksgiving parade route to prevent terrorists from driving into the crowd.
The move is a reaction to an ISIS magazine specifically naming the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as an “excellent target” for an attack.
But a Boca Raton family is not worried about the possibility of an attack. 10-year-old Fisher Brown will ride a float in the parade Thursday.
His father said he trusts the police in New York City to keep the event safe. Adding he won’t change his routine based on terrorist propoganda.
“We have a responsibility to continue to live our lives, to not forget what it means to be an American, and not to allow those who wish to do us harm to take away those opportunities,” said Jason Brown.
His son will ride on Hallmark’s “Heartwarming Holiday Countdown” float with Tony Bennet and Miss Piggy.
“I’m most looking forward to waving and meeting the two famous people,” said Fisher, a 4th grade student at Saint Andrew’s School.
You can watch the parade on WPTV Thursday at 9 a.m.
