BOCA RATON, Fla. — Boca Raton's Silver Palm Park boat ramp is open to boaters with commercial fishing licenses beginning Tuesday.

The city reminds boaters that no recreational boat launches are permitted.

Only boaters with commercial permits issued by the city of Boca Raton are allowed.

City officials said Tuesday night on Facebook that no fishing from the sea wall will be allowed and restrooms at the park remain closed.

The ramp will close again Sunday in anticipation of the annual "Boca Bash" event.

"I wanted to make a particular note in light of what this Sunday is," Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer said during a news conference Tueday. "It's historically the date for the Boca Bash -- an event that's in no way sponsored by the city and in past years has attracted hundreds, if not thousands, of boaters out to Lake Boca. We're very pleased that yesterday the organizer posted on Facebook that this event is not going to happen this year and that boaters should stay home. Now the waterway is governed by state law and under the jurisdiction of the Fish and Wildlife Commission. So we're grateful that FWC will be on hand this Sunday to ensure that any boating out there is done safely, and helping us comply with all of the orders on social distancing. Again, there is no Boca Bash this Sunday. So please do not think of coming out now to raft up with other boats and have a party. We've been preventing that for the last few weeks and now especially is not the time."
