A Bahamian boater was rescued about 18 miles off the Lake Worth/Boynton Beach area Wednesday after drifting for more than 24 hours.

The boater's journey began in the Bahamas near Cat Cay when his boat broke down and began to drift.

He placed a 911 call when he was 10 miles off the Pompano Beach coast.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue land units responded along with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Broward County Fire Rescue to search for the missing boater.

He was located 18 miles off the Palm Beach coast in good condition.

He will be returning home to the Bahamas.
