Okeechobee Co. deputies search for missing man

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. -- The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a missing Okeechobee man, 36-year-old Billy James "B.J." Herrin.

Herrin was reported missing on Monday, April 25. The Sheriff's Office says he was last seen on Friday, April 22 in the 5700 block of NE 304 Street in Okeechobee County. Deputies say friends had dropped him off to go fishing.

Deputies utilized all terrain vehicles and the Sheriff's Office Posse Unit to search the area on Monday. On Tuesday, the search resumed with additional resources from St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and Florida Wildlife Commission.

At this time there is no reason to believe there was foul play involved in his disappearance, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Herrin is a registered sex offender in Osceola County, Florida.
