Supporters of Corey Jones have lined the exit ramp in Palm Beach Gardens on Monday to set up a memorial where he was killed three months ago.

Drivers who exit Interstate 95 at PGA going southbound will see Florida Highway Patrol troopers and supporters of Jones at the ramp.

At 5 a.m., people already have their hoods open and candles set up. This is the same exit ramp where Corey Jones was shot and killed on Oct. 18 by Palm Beach Gardens Officer Nouman Raja.

Jones was coming home from a performance with his band when his car broke down on the side of the road.

Jones was approached by Raja, who was wearing plain clothes and driving an unmarked car.

A confrontation ensued, ending with Jones being shot and killed by Raja. Raja was fired from the department in November.

No decision has been made yet as to whether or not to charge Raja, but members of the community have pushed for changes. Starting in the summer or fall, Palm Beach Gardens’ officers will have to wear body cameras.
