The Palm Beach County School District said a power outage has occurred Thursday at Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary School.

Officials said the school is not closing, but parents are encouraged to pick up their children if they are able to do so.

Power has been out most of the day.

The school district said Florida Power and Light was hopeful electricity would be repaired quickly, but crews found a transformer must be replaced and don't anticipate power will be restored until later this evening.

The school will be checking IDs, and students will only be released to those who have been designated for pick up.

If a child is in aftercare, the district advises that parents make arrangements for early pick up as well.

School police is at the campus to assist with dismissal lines. School buses will be arriving at school at the normal dismissal time.

Phone service to the school is intermittent. Emergency calls can be made to the Regional Office at 561-494-1500.

Parents whose contact numbers and email addresses are in the school's system have been called and emailed.

For more information, parents should contact the Office of Communications at (561) 357-1114.
