UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as Richard A. Atwood. They say he is in stable condition after the accident.

Police in Palm Beach Gardens are searching for a Toyota Corolla that they believe was involved in a hit-and-run crash Monday.

The accident involved a cyclist. Palm Beach Gardens Police say the victim is still in critical condition at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Detectives say the cyclist was traveling in the bike lane on A1A south of Donald Ross Road when they were hit around 12:26 a.m.

Bill Dunn of Jupiter says he drives in that area all the time. He says drivers know it's common to see cyclists and pedestrians.

"I do see all types of people walking, jogging, biking, and it always seems to be a little it, it can be a problem," said Dunn.

Police believe the vehicle involved is a 2010, Toyota Corolla, gray or silver in color, with front end damage.
