'Go Red for Women Luncheon' in Palm Beach Gardens on Thursday

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The annual “Go Red For Women Luncheon” will be held Thursday in Palm Beach Gardens, putting a spotlight on heart disease.

The American Heart Association says heart disease and stroke cause one in three deaths among women each year –- more than all forms of cancer combined.

The annual luncheon allows people from across Palm Beach County to come together each year for the common purpose to end heart disease and stroke in women.

Women who took part in the "Better U" challenge will be in attendance. Together they lost more than 100 pounds and took more than three million steps to fight heart disease.

Festivities will be held at the PGA National Resort and Spa at 11 a.m. The event will be emceed by WPTV morning anchor Ashleigh Walters.
