FHP identifies pedestrian hit, killed by dump truck on Turnpike in Palm Beach Gardens

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol has identified a pedestrian hit and killed on the Florida Turnpike in Palm Beach Gardens on Monday morning.

The wreck happened around 9:45 a.m. at mile marker 111, just north of PGA Boulevard.

FHP said 61-year-old George Kasprzyk was walking in the southbound lanes when a dump truck struck him. Kasprzyk was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash forced all southbound lanes of the Turnpike to close for hours on Monday. Chopper 5 flew over the scene and saw backups for more than a mile.

All southbound lanes of the Turnpike reopened just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
