PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — They say the heart of the home is in your kitchen. Perhaps that's why a Palm Beach County chef invited some special children into his kitchen just days after Hurricane Dorian destroyed their own homes.
The children donned chef hats and aprons at Evo Italian restaurant in Tequesta.
Chef Erik Pettersen invited them in for a lesson in pasta and meatballs. "I said I want those kids from the Bahamas to take over our kitchen today," Pettersen said.
The chef and his crew took the time to show every child the finesse of making perfect pasta, stopping at nothing to bring a bit of happiness to kids who have lost so much.
"If I can put a smile on one of the dozen of children coming here today, just one - I did my job," Pettersen said.
