A new fitness class in Palm Beach Gardens is promising to keep seniors active without leaving their seat.
It’s called 'Chair Yoga' and it gives seniors the opportunity to do traditional Yoga in a comfortable setting, right in their chair.
The class is modified to allow for gentle stretching as well.
It gives seniors a way to strengthen their muscles and work on their balance.
But the benefits don’t just stop there.
“We can help people learn ways to reduce stress, lower heart rate, lower blood pressure, reduce risk factors for heart disease and other stress related illnesses,” says Sara Chambers, a nurse manager at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.
The class is free and meets every third Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. To register, click here.
