JUPITER, Fla. -- Firefighters extinguished a brush fire in Jupiter on Saturday.
The fire occurred in a natural preserve area near the Jupiter Lakes Townhouses community and Jupiter Medical Center.
Florida Forest Service helped Palm Beach County Rescue combat the flames.
Six homes and a group of townhomes were evacuated. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from advancing into the homes.
"It was scary seeing how high the flames were and how close they were to us," said Mike Brocato, who was evacuated from his townhome.
There were no reports of any injuries.
"I just thank God that we have police and firefighters to help us out," said Chris Manuchia, another neighbor who was evacuated
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says the fire is contained and is estimated to have impacted an area of about 20 acres.
No homes were damaged in the fire.
