Duke's Lazy Loggerhead Cafe at Carlin Park is the area where FWC says water tests revealed a high concentration of red tide. Beachgoers complaining of an itchy throat or watery eyes.
Jennifer Wilson, owner of the restaurant said, "The whole week was pretty much like that. It's down considerably. And I think due to the fear of red tide."
Owners are offering customers a sigh of relief. No matter how the air is outside, a new air filtration system installed today will make conditions inside the cafe just right.
Tony Julian with RGF Environmental Group who installed the system said, "It's going to purify the ducts all through the restaurant space and we combining that with a new product and that's going to scrub the air and move all of the tiny airborne bacteria and particles."
Customer Alex DeGuardiola is thankful the owners care about customers. "It's amazing. We should take all precautionary measures as possible to take care of the customers."
