JUPITER, Fla.- An owl just days old that fell into a boat in West Palm Beach is expected to make it.
A baby screech owl is fighting for survival at the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary.
It was nesting in a tree that toppled into a boat in West Palm Beach last night.
Staff has been nursing the owlet back to health.
“I was up most of the night, just every hour, checking on the the bird making sure the body temperature was good, rehydrating it,” said David Hitzig, the executive director of the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. “And once the bird took its first meal for me I knew we were down to the road to recovery.”
Two other owlets died from the fall.
Staff says the owlet will be ready for release in a few months.
