Eleven year old Jaden Rivera is healing from major surgery, 32 staples were recently removed from his head. Jaden said, "I want kids and parents to wear their helmets so this doesn't happen to them like it did happen to me."
A month ago, Jaden hit a bump and fell off of his bicycle at a family member's home. He wasn't wearing a bicycle helmet. "I didn't see the sewer top and my pedal hit the top of it and and I fell off."
His mother said he seemed to be ok. But a couple of days later, that changed.Tiffany Rivera said, "The next morning he woke up and he was a little lethargic, didn't want to eat."
Jaden was rushed to the hospital-- undergoing two and half hours of surgery. Doctors are calling it a miracle. His mother said, "In the cat scan they found, he had an epidural hematoma, on his brain and a skull fracture."
Now Jaden is an advocate for kids wearing helmets. He plans to wear his and tell every kid he knows, to do the same. "I want for the kids to and parents to wear their helmets so that this won't happen to them."
Jaden's mother posted his story on Facebook. So far it's been shared more than 31-thousand times.
