A sweaty driver who was not wearing pants led Martin County deputies on a chase Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies initially pulled the driver over near an I-95 rest area after an off-duty Border patrol agent saw the car driving erratically.
When deputies approached the driver, later identified as 48-year old Frederick Petrone of Deerfield Beach, they said he was sweating profusely and missing pants.
He then took off and at one point rammed a deputy’s cruiser, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies eventually took Petrone into custody after using stop sticks to disable his car.
He said crack cocaine played a role in his decision to flee, the sheriff’s office said.
He was booked into the Martin County Jail and faces charges of fleeing and eluding, aggravated battery with a motor vehicle, DUI, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
