Stuart police are asking for more help from residents after arresting a burglary suspect.
Around midnight officers responded to Poppleton Creek when a homeowner heard her car alarm sound.
Police say they questioned and later arrested Zachary Dayanoff after they found him checking a vehicle’s door handle.
Police say he gave conflicting stories about why he was on the property. They say he had change and other items in his pockets.
Police say another homeowner told them his car was broken into several weeks ago and change was taken, but he decided not to report the crime.
Police urge car owners to talk to them if they encounter suspicious activity. Investigators say it gives them the opportunity to collect evidence, such as fingerprints, and hair samples. They also say it helps them track criminal activity.
