MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. -- A Bradenton man is under arrest after Martin County deputies say he stole a woman's car, then torched it while being chased by authorities.
Deputies say 49-year-old Randall Hole purposely bumped into a senior citizen at the Cummings Library, and during the process, removed the victim's car keys from their pocket.
Library patrons called the Martin County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) to report that Hole was acting suspicious and aggressive inside the library, and say he appeared to be under the influence.
One witness said he even swallowed a handful of pills before he stormed out of the library.
A MCSO Deputy spotted the stolen vehicle cutting through traffic on Kanner Highway at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
MCSO Air 1 tracked Hole to a wooded area, where he torched the stolen vehicle. Hole could also be seen talking to passing motorists. At one point, he looked up and appeared to be talking to the helicopter.
MCSO Air 1 led road deputies to Hole where he was taken into custody.
Randall Hole is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding, and driving without a license. He will also be charged with battery on a person 65-years or older. Hole is being held on a $162,000 bond.
