HOBE SOUND, Fla. — Two people were hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by lightning late Sunday afternoon at Hobe Sound Beach.
Martin County Fire Rescue says two men were fishing about 200 yards north of the lifeguard tower at 4:30 p.m. when they were struck.
Ocean Rescue crew members were first to reach the pair.
One of the men was airlifted to St. Mary's Medical Center. The other was taken by ambulance to Jupiter Medical Center.
