Firefighters are taking precautions to avoid the rekindling of a 3-acre brush fire in Martin County.

The brush started around 6:30 p.m. Monday near US Highway 1, just north of Cove Road in Stuart.

It took firefighters about an hour to get the fire fully contained. But they say there is a high risk for the fire to re-spark, which means fire crews will be keeping a close eye on conditions.

Firefighters made a containment line around the fire to be sure it would not spread.

No homes were in jeopardy, officials said.

Florida Foresty rangers on scene say the conditions are still very dry despite recent rain, still keeping the continued risk for fires high for now.
