Woman killed in Indian River County single-vehicle crash

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. — A single-vehicle crash in Indian River County left one person dead and two others injured, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 3:09 p.m. on northbound I-95 at Mile Marker 146.

According to a FHP report, a 2002 Ford SUV, driven by 30-year-old Jalisa Moreland of Miami Gardens, was traveling northbound on I-95 when the SUV suffered a tire failure and rolled over several times. Moreland was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

One of the passengers in the vehicle, a 42-year-old woman who has not been identified, was transported to Indian River Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

A third passenger, 39-year-old Taryn Martin Session of Lauderhill, was transported to Indian River Medical Center with minor injuries.

According to the report, all occupants in the vehicle were wearing seat-belts at the time of the crash.

It's unknown if alcohol played a role in the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
