There's a debris controversy going on in Vero Beach.
The city is burning debris left over from Hurricane Matthew at Dodgertown in the city. The smoke is bothering nearby homeowners.
Vero Beach's city manager says the city received approval from the Department of Environmental Protection following the hurricane to burn vegetation only at the park.
Since they started burning residents have voiced their concerns to the city that the smoke is creating health concerns.
"We have a number of people who have some breathing problems. There's soot on our cars. We have a car in the garage that has soot on it. The smoke is so thick and you feel like we smell like smoke. We're all breathing in the smoke. I can't imagine why they would want to burn this," says Susan Humanes who lives near the burn site.
City leaders say they will probably continue to burn debris for the next week.
