A loggerhead sea turtle was returned to the ocean Thursday afternoon after being nursed back to health.
Saoirse, a subadult loggerhead sea turtle, was released at Sebastian Inlet State Park.
This turtle was brought to Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center in January after being found at the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant in a thin, lethargic state, covered in barnacles.
Saoirse is the zoo’s third rehabilitated turtle released this week.
Two subadult green sea turtles, Chad and Mr. President, were released on Tuesday morning.
