A mother, two children and a dog were rescued in the Indian River Lagoon after the vessel they were in went adrift, according to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Christian Mathisen, who was patrolling the lagoon, boarded the flooded boat, located and fixed the source of the leak.
The boat was towed with the Indian River Sheriff's Office boat and transported to a nearby dock.
Deputies drove the woman to the dock and helped her secure the boat onto the trailer.
"This weekend's water rescue is another example of our deputies saving lives. Deputy Mathisen's expertise on the water helped him prevent a possible tragedy," Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar.
There were no reports of injuries.
