The Florida Department of Health is advising people not to swim at two Martin County beaches because of high levels of bacteria in the water.
The affected areas in Martin County are:
- Leighton Park in Palm City
- Roosevelt Bridge in Stuart
The Florida Department of Health says the high bacteria levels are an indication of fecal pollution in the water.
If ingested, you can get an upset stomach, diarrhea, eye irritation, and skin rashes.
The no swimming advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
A swimming advisory was also issued for several beaches in Indian River County, but that advisory was lifted after satisfactory microbial water quality test results were collected on Monday, February 4, 2019.
