The city of West Palm Beach reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice on how city employees, including police, will handle undocumented immigrants.

Earlier this year the DOJ threatened dozens of cities, including West Palm Beach, with subpoenas if it didn't cooperate with federal laws.

West Palm Beach recently sent a memo to its employees telling them to share that information.

Mayor Jeri Muoio spoke about an article that cited a White House official, saying the city only settled to avoid an unfavorable court ruling.

"I'm angry right now because I thought we had a mutual agreement to settle this and that we are working in a cooperative manor and this statement absolutely negates that, so I'm not happy," Muoi said at a Tuesday afternoon news conference.

The mayor went on to say the memo sent to city employees was simply a reiteration of current local law.
