West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio rolled out a plan Tuesday which the city says is designed to "reduce youth violence and to improve outcomes of young African American men and boys."
The Mayor's Village Initiative is a collaboration between community organizations in three specific neighborhoods: The Historic Northwest, Coleman Park, and Pleasant City.
"We want to make sure that the young people, especially the young African American men who live in our city, realize that they are important to us and that they have a future that's a safe future. A secure future. And a productive future," Mayor Muoio said.
The plan focuses on crime prevention, work force development and education. It also aims to improve mental and physical health in the community.
