UPDATE: The shooting victim was identified as Charles Brown Jr., 32, of Boynton Beach. Brown is expected to survive his injuries.
Police said he was shot by Hugo Selva, 22, who the next day killed his girlfriend 26-year-old Nicole Novak.
Selva later caused multiple crashes on Feb. 7 on Interstate 95 in Lantana, where he was later shot and killed by a PBSO deputy.

West Palm Beach police confirm they are investigating a shooting.
It happened just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 7200 block of South Dixie Hwy.
A man was shot but his injury is not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Investigators believe the victim knew the shooter.
