A West Palm Beach police car was involved in a wreck overnight after the officer ran a red light.
Shortly after 2:15 a.m. Thursday, police spokesman Lori Colombino said a marked police car was involved in a crash at Okeechobee Boulevard and Dixie Highway.
Police said a vehicle was heading north on Dixie Highway when a driver, Jerome Degey, was heading east on Okeechobee Boulevard.
Officer Raphael Chaves was entering the intersection and collided with Degey’s vehicle. The traffic light for the officer’s vehicle was red at the time of the collision.
Medics responded to the scene and treated and released both drivers.
