WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — West Palm Beach police say an arrest has been made in the sexual battery of a teen from nearly two decades ago.
Police said a 15-year-old girl was attacked and sexually assaulted on June 4, 1999 along the 700 block of 21st Street while she was walking to a family member's home.
The case went cold until 2017, when the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Serology Lab tested a sexual battery evidence kit.
Police said the lab identified 54-year-old Tommy Kelvin Neloms as the suspect in September, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
U.S. Marshals took Neloms into custody Thursday. He's expected to make his first appearance in court Friday morning.
