Two people were arrested Monday afternoon following an occupied residential burglary in West Palm Beach, according to West Palm Beach Police Department Spokesperson Lori Colombino.
The incident happened shortly after 12:15 p.m. along the 700 block of Flamingo Drive.
The suspects were captured and identified as 18-year-old Michelle Reyes and 19-year-old Malik Brooks.
Police say Reyes burglarized the home and stole electronics and jewelry while the woman living there was inside.
Police say Reyes then took off.
"It's scary to be sure," said neighbor Penny Kuzmenko. "But we've never had acts of violence in this neighborhood anybody getting hurt, mugged, that sort of thing. That's rare here."
Officers at the scene established a perimeter to capture the second suspect. A K-9 helped track the suspect.
Police say they were able to recover the items stolen in the burglary.
