It was a historic turnout at Palm Beach International Airport Saturday night for the 4th and final Southeast Florida Honor Flight of 2018. More than 2000 people lined the concourse to welcome 82 veterans after they spent the day in Washington, D.C.

“Well I think that they did a great job serving our country and they deserve something great,” said Sophia.

The free trip is a chance for veterans to visit the nation’s capital and for some it’s their very first time.

“I think it’s the idea that they are with their fellow veterans the comrade they have, and it’s just a way of having them realize we still do think about them and appreciate their service,” said vet coordinator Terry Gallagher.

Every vet on the trip either served in WWII, The Korean or Vietnam War.
