There was a heavy police presence early Thursday morning near the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station after a taxi cab was hit by bullets.

According to West Palm Beach police, shortly after 3 a.m. officers responded to an attempted robbery at 201 South Tamarind Ave.
Police said a person demanded money from the cab driver, but the driver refused and began to drive away. At that time, the person attempting to rob the driver fired a gun at the victim.
The taxi cab driver was taken from the scene in an ambulance as a precaution but was not shot.
Officers and investigators were on scene for hours collecting evidence, including bullet casings on the ground.
The crime tape and taxi cab were removed from the scene by 6:15 a.m.
The Tri-Rail station is open and trains are running as scheduled.
