Student accused of having knife on campus

A high school student found with a knife which he said was for his protection has been arrested, according to Palm Beach County School District  police.

Calvo Yoandry Iglesia, 18, attends Forest Hill High School.

An assistant principal said he smelled marijuana and pulled Iglesia and another student into his office, according to a probable cause affidavit.

During questioning Iglesia admitted he had a knife in his book bag, the affidavit states.

When asked why he replied, "I need them for my protection outside. Yesterday I was robbed in the neighborhood," according to the report.

Police are charging Iglesia with possession of a weapon on school property.
