Powerball mania hits Palm Beach County

UPDATE: Lottery officials say there was no grand prize winner in the first Powerball drawing of the year that also offers one of the biggest prizes in the game's history.

EARLIER STORY:

A lot of people are hoping to start the new year a few hundred million dollars richer. Saturday night's Powerball lottery jackpot was estimated to be $334 million.

The idea of turning a $2 ticket into a giant paycheck was too good to pass up for Cliff from Palm Beach County.

"I can just see myself in the back of a limo with a pool and champagne," he says imagining winning the jackpot.

He's so confident he'll be a millionaire Sunday he didn't want to give us his last name. He was also hoping his boss at a local trucking company didn't see him on the news.

"I love you, Fred," he shouted.

Cliff already has big plans he doesn't think his boss would approve.

"Sitting off in Mexico, with a drink in my coconut," he says dancing around the cash register at the Airpot Shell gas station on Congress Avenue and Gun Club Road.

Others are a little more modest. After all, the odds of winning are one in 292 million, according to Powerball.

"I can't even fathom winning anything close to that, but I'll never know unless I play," said Matt Davis, from Riviera Beach, who is buying a ticket for the first time.

He says he'll take care of his daughter's future, if he wins. But he says getting caught up in the thrill of it all is part of the fun.

The winning numbers are 42-15-06-05-29 with a Powerball of 10.

This is the 12th largest jackpot in Powerball's history.
